I'm so moving to Maine

...I wish. They must be desperate for librarians there; in some libraries you don't even need an MLS to be a librarian. Of course, the downside is that they only pay you $10-$13 an hour, and apparently some small libraries are only open around 20 hours a week. Still, it's Maine! I'm going to apply for one of those jobs just for the heck of it, to see if I have any more luck.

For those of you who don't know, I've been enamoured of Maine ever since I was a kid, thanks largely to books like One Morning in Maine, Fudge-a-Mania, and Miss Rumphius (which doesn't say for sure, but I'm pretty sure it takes place in Maine).

You could move to Maine, couldn't you? What would John think? They have biology up there, too! I bet it's beautiful. Speaking of books in Maine- I have a vague recollection of some young adult read that had to do with kids finding some long lost works of Longfellow and it took place in Maine. Do you know what that book would be? I think maybe it was on a Newberry list at one point. Every time I think of Maine I think of that book.

Hmm, I've never heard of that book! I looked for it in the library catalog and couldn't find it. It sounds good, though!

I would love to move to Maine. Isn't it weird that I want to move someplace I've never been? All the books I've read about it just give it such a romantic quality. I think John's pretty attached to Colorado, though...

Hey! I found your blog through Abbie and Jarud's blog. Maine is near the top of my travel list too. I imagine it as still kind of untouched and an autumn wilderness kind of world. The mysteriousness of Canada with all the familiarity of the U.S. For some reason I always imagine it to be autumn there.
